AMD 生產 Intel 兼容品
時為 1981 年，Intel (請見我們數個月前的Intel 處理器歷史) 剛剛被 IBM 選為第一部個人電腦的處理器供應商。針對 PC 設計，IBM 希望至少有兩家 CPU 供應商，因此迫使 Intel 授權出處理器技術，而 AMD (超微) 成為銷售 8086 兼容品的第一批廠商之一。AMD 的首款處理器於1982 年開始銷售，因為是技術授權設計而來的處理器，AMD 8086 (與 8088) 和 Intel 型號一模一樣。
